
The Artist
Margi
Batson was born in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1947 and went to live
in Australia shortly thereafter with her parents and two older
brothers. She made her first trip back to Rochdale in 2002.
Margi
says always dabbled in arts and crafts and a few years ago discovered
that she enjoyed painting with pastels. She enjoys a variety of
work including landscapes, animals, flowers, and portraits and
she defines her work as being "Vibrant Coloured Pastels". She
has also done some acrylics and coloured pencil work, but at the
moment her passion is pastels.
Though
she was never formally trained Margi has been to several workshops
in watercolours, acrylics, pastels and coloured pencils.In 2002
she participated in a 4-day coloured pencil portrait workshop
at Patchings Farm just outside of Nottingham.
Margi
Batson is married to John, with whom she has two daughters, Janie
who is 29 and has lived in London with her partner for 8 years
and their youngest daughter Kate lives in Adelaide, South Australia.
Margi
and John lived in Adelaide until 5 years ago when they relocated
to Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory. Her husband John
has never been to the UK but they hope to make a trip over here
together some time in the not too distant future.
