Joe Ainsworth Local Artist
The Artist

Joe Ainsworth is a Manchester-based artist who was born in 1978 and lives in Hale. He went to Knutsford High School and now works in Hale and Manchester.
Joe studied Fine Art Painting at the University of Brighton after doing a
Foundation Course in Art and Design at the Manchester Metropolitan University.
He maintains that for him ...

"'...when I start painting I have a feeling of which general direction to head in'. At this stage the painting is quite free and experimental. It starts to take shape when clear decisions are made. Spaces within the painting are defined by edges and colour. From this point onwards I feel I am putting the painting together. I use a variety of tools, techniques and processes. Different ideas are considered and experimented with. This continues until the strength of the painting outweighs the desire to take it further. Life experiences are reflected in the paintings".

Joe has held or participated in exhibitions at the following:

  • Refuel, 84 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, Feb - May 2003.
  • Space 2003, www.guestsgallery.com, Jan - July 2003.
  • i2i Interiors, Heaton Mersey, Stockport, Dec 2002.
  • Wendy Smythe, 118 Ashley Road, Hale, Altrincham, Cheshire, July 2002.
  • Jamfish, 28-32 Greenwood St. Altrincham, Cheshire, April - May 2002
  • Degree Show, University of Brighton, Grand Parade, Brighton, June 2000.
