Permits for Disabled Drivers in Manchester
Free Parking
Permits/Badges are available for disabled drivers. Formerly Orange,
new permits are Blue and White. For information about how to obtain
a Blue Badge contact your local Social Services Department (see
below).

Manchester
City Council has installed dedicated parking bays for disabled
drivers throughout the city centre and on all of its multi-storey
car parks. Normal charges apply.
Pay & Display Car Parks are free to disabled Blue Badge holders
(formerly Orange Badges - see above).

A registered
charity and recognised training agency providing services, support,
training and rehabilitation to blind and visually impaired persons,
as well as training dogs as guides and providing publications
and information. They also offer holiday and activities events
for the blind including hill-walking, skiing, ballroom dancing,
as well as sports (golf, bowling, etc).
Motability
Certain disabled
persons may be eligible to be provided with a vehicle free of
charge, depending on their circumstances and the degree of their
disability. Broadly speaking, to be eligible for Motability, applicants
must have been, (and are still), receiving the Higher Rate Mobility
Component, the Disability Living Allowance, or a War Pensioners'
Disability Supplement for a minimum of two years prior to the

Shopmobility
Manchester
Shopmobility Manchester helps anyone with permanent or temporary
disability to get around the shops and use other facilites around
the city centre. They are based on the Upper Mall above Cannon
Street in the Arndale Centre and are open 7 days a week.
It offers a free loan of a powered scooter, electric or manual
wheelchair, volunteers who will escort wheelchair users on request,
as well as free car parking in the High Street Car Park.
