The Booth Centre aims to provide a welcoming and accepting environment
for people who are homeless, to empower people to make informed

offering advice to help people resolve their problems and providing

young people in Manchester running away or at risk, unaccompanied

The Next Step Project is the leaving care service for young people,
aged 15½ through to 21, who have been in care. They work
in partnership with Salford City Council and the NCH children's
charity. The Next Step Project was won an award in the Community
Care Awards in the "Improving Life Chances For Looked After
Children" category.

of England Bone Marrow & Thalassaemia Association

The association was set up in Blackburn in 1989 to help people
with thalassaemia and to increase awareness of the condition.
It now serves the whole of the North of England and has recently
moved to a new base in Manchester Royal Infirmary in the Denmark
Road Building. They have a programme of family events and conferences,
as well as offering support and information to anyone affected
by thalassaemia.

The NSPCC was set up to protect children from cruelty, support
vulnerable families, campaign for changes to the law and raise
awareness about abuse. The NSPCC currently has 177 community-based
projects and runs the Child Protection Helpline and ChildLine
in the UK and the Channel Islands. Most of their work is with
children, young people and their families. but they also work
to achieve cultural, social and political change - influencing
legislation, policy, practice, public attitudes and behaviours
and delivering services for the benefit of young people.
