The Artist
Sally Williams
describes herself as a textile and digital artist/maker who began
her studies in Art and Design at Loughborough College of Art.
She also studied New Technology for Designer Makers and later
gained her BA (Hons) in Visual Art at the University of Salford
in 2002.
Her current work uncovers the stunning microscopic landscapes
that are unseen by the naked eye, exploring the beautiful minute
forms of the weft and weave of the sculptural fibre pieces to
make and create delicate textural imagery and environments. Of
herself and her work, Sally says:
"I
use a marriage of handmade sculptural textiles and various 'New
technologies', such as 3D virtual software, scanning electron
microscopes, laser cutting and etching and digital photography
to create my work.
Science and 'New Technology' constantly inform my work on both
a technical and creative level".
She took part
in a Sculptural Textiles/Digital web design Workshop - 'Desire
Lines' for Creative Partnerships in 2002, and at UMIST's Research
at the Crystals and Colloid Department from 2003-2004.
He has exhibited at the Triangle in Manchester, held a solo show
in Blackburn in early 2004, as well as in Barcelona, Nottingham
and St Helens. In 2005 she is holding a Solo Show in Denmark as
well as taking part in a Group Show in Finland.
