The Artist
John Blenkinsopp
is a Manchester artist based at Rogue Artist Studios. He paints
in both acrylics and oils on a range of surfaces including canvas,
board and paper.
His work is
figurative and tries to blend colour, draughtsmanship and emotion.
Images, many involving the human figure, range in mood from the
reflective and almost silent to those which are life-affirming
and vital.
He works predominantly
in print, particularly etchings, with some time spent on painting
and drawing, and has also undertaken a number of other "themed"
series of works such as the beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands
in the West Indies, as well as still life "sets" (sunflower series,
reflections series), which allow him to explore subjects in greater
depth.
His inspiration
comes from the work of the painters like David Hockney, Euan Uglow
and Andrew Pankhurst, and the etchings of Rembrandt, Goya, Dürer,
Paula Rego and Norman Ackroyd.
He has shown
work in a number of exhibitions including The Stockport Open,
The Yorkshire Artists Show and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
All works
are for sale at prices from £250-£750.
