Lady Lever Art Gallery was created by the philanthropist millionaire soap baron, William Hesketh Lever, named to honour his beloved wife, as part of his "model" village at Port Sunlight. Gorgeously opulent gallery containing many Pre-Raphaelite paintings by the likes of Ford Madox Brown, Millais, Hunt and Rossetti as well as Constable and Turner landscapes. Also extensive Wedgwood ceramics and Chinese, Roman and Greek collections.
Open all year round except over Christmas holidays, from Monday to Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm and on Sundays from 12 noon - 5.00pm. (Please check before setting off as times may have changed).
Café on site.
Nearest train is at Merseyrail's Bebington Station, 2 minutes walk away.

University of Liverpool Art Gallery

Fine arts and decorative arts from the University's collections, displayed in a fine Georgian house in the city centre. Works on display include Turner, Burne-Jones, Augustus John, Lucien Freud and Elizabeth Frink amongst others.
Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 12 noon - 2.00pm, Wednesday and Friday from 12 noon - 4.00pm. Closed weekends, Bank Holidays and during the month of August. (Please check before setting off as times may have changed).

Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery

Located in a fine Victorian building in the town centre, Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery holds around 16 visiting exhibitions a year and has an award-winning Asian gallery of textiles, jewellery and furniture from the Indian subcontinent. The Local History Gallery contains details of the township's historical development since the earliest times, and their are lively Victorian room displays and settings. A large collection of high Victorian paintings collected and presented by Blackburn rope manufacturer, Edward Hart. Admission free.
Open all year round Tuesday to Friday from 12 noon - 4.45pm and Saturday from 9.45am -4.45pm. Closed Sunday, Monday and all Bank Holidays. (Please check before setting off as times may have changed).

Towneley Hall Art Gallery

Art Gallery and Museum rolled into one, including the Natural History Museum, an Aquarium, Gardens and a Museum of Local Crafts & Industries. Good collections of 17th century oak furniture and embroidered church vestments. Admission and parking are fee. Café on site. Visiting exhibitions and guided tours.

Clitheroe Platform Gallery

Owned and run by the Ribble Valley Borough Council, this restored former Victorian railway station in Clitheroe was opened in 1994. Around 9 exhibitions held every year including frequent shows by local artists. Gallery shop. Phone for programme of events.

Harris Museum & Art Gallery Preston

Harris Museum and Art Gallery, which dominates Preston town centre, is housed in a Grade I Listed Building and was opened in 1893. Extensive collections of historic as well as contemporary fine arts and decorative arts in permanent collections. Regular temporary and visiting exhibitions. Museum shop with wide range of prints and framing available.
