Out of town shopping centres and retail parks around the boroughs and districts of Greater Manchester

Retail Parks have become increasingly popular shopping venues around Greater Manchester, and recent years have seen many new multi-million pound ventures in retail shopping park developments spring up around the city and the townships of the region. Most have the same familiar high street names on show - M&S, Next, Boots, Comet, B&Q, and so forth. However, with their out-of-town-centre locations and onsite free parking, these names are gradually relocating from the traditional High Street into the new Retail Parks, thanks to increased mobility through personal transport and Sunday trading.

Altrincham Retail Park
Located at George Richards Way, Broadheath, Altrincham WA14, on the A56 just north of the town centre, it includes stores like Toys-R-Us, CarpetRight, Currys, HomeBase, Clarks Shoes,and Mothercare World and has a McDonald's restaurant on site.

Bolton Gate Retail Park
Located corner of Turton Street/Roundhill Way in Bolton BL1, this is a substantial retail park near the town centre, including large stores like Hobbycraft, B&Q, CarpetRight, Currys and PC World. PizzaHut Restaurant on site.

Brookway Retail Park, Wythenshawe
Located on Altrincham Road in the Baguley district of Wythenshawe M23, with stores like JJB Sports, Pets at Home, The Dog Portrait Company, Wickes Building Supplies, Matalan and Tesco stores.

Central Retail Park, Ancoats
Located on Great Ancoats Street in the M4 district of Manchester alongside the Rochdale Canal and the Royal Mills, it includes shops and stores like Toys-R-Us, Argos, JD Sports, Currys, JJB Sports, Next catalogue Shop and Mothercare. Large ILVA store opposite.

Crown Point Retail Park, Denton
Located on Ashton Road, Denton M34, near to Junction 1 of the M67 motorway, includes Tesco Home-Plus Supermarket, Carphone Warehouse, Boots, Dorothy Perkins and Bathstore among others.

Heaton Retail Park

Located on Middleton Road just opposite the southern entrance to Heaton Park, this has stores by Wickes, Nevada Bob's Golf Shop and a large sainsbury's Superstore.

Kingsway Retail Park, Rochdale
Located on the Wallhead Road in Rochdale OL16, includes shops and stores like JJB Sports, Comet, Furniture Medic, Netto, CDs Superstores, Sharps Bedrooms and KFC food outlet.

Manchester Fort, Cheetham Hill

The large Manchester Fort retail park is located at the junction of Cheetham Hill Road (A665) and Queens Road. It has more than 1,400 free parking spaces. Shops and stores include B&Q, Halfords, Sports World, Argos, Comet, George, Index, The Link, and TK Maxx, Boots, Royal Doulton, Thorntons, Martin Dawes, Thomson Holidays, Lloyds Pharmacy, Subway, Next, Borders Bookshop and Maplin Electronics, as well as many others.

Middlebrook Bolton Retail & Leisure Park, Horwich
Located adjacent to the Reebok Football Stadium in the Horwich district of Bolton, and just of the M62 motorway, this park claims to be one of the largest intergrated and sustainable employment, leisure, sports and retail schemes in the country. Large stores an many small shops including Argos, HMV, Boots, JD Sports, Asda Supermarket, Carpetworld, Land of Leather, Laura Ashley, Carphone Warehouse, Marks & Spencer, Clarks Footware, Next, CSL Furniture, Comet, Currys, Dreams, Sportsworld, CSS, Furniture Village, Rosebys, Halfords, First Choice Holidays and many more. Many restaurants and diners on site, including PizzaHut, Starbuck's, Subway, McDonald's, Harvester, M&S Café Revive, KFC, Nando's, Abacus Oriental Restaurant and Scott's Wine Bar.

Moorgate Retail Park, Bury
Located at the Rochdale Road end of the Rock, this is a small-ish retail park with shops including Carpetright, Harveys Furniture, Comet and eateries like KFC.

Oldham Centre Retail Park
Located on Broadway in the Royton district of Oldham OL2 and formerly known as the Elk Mill Retail Park, it includes shops and stores like Bathstore, Currys, Matalan, Argos, DP Furniture Express, as well as a McDonalds and PizzaHut restaurants.

Parsonage Retail Park, Leigh
Located on the site of a former colliery, on Parsonage Way, Leigh WN7, this retail park offers a Sainsbury Superstore and other major retailers such as JJB Sports, Comet, Halfords, Carpetright, Catalogue Bargain Shop, Dixons and Poundstretcher.

Peel Centre, Stockport
A large, busy retail park, located off Great Portwood Street in Stockport, and home to every kind of superstore you could possibly imagine. Shops include Borders, Argos, Currys, Next, HobbyCraft, CarpetRight, Asda and sainsbury's. A few minutes walk from the Peel Centre is Matalan.

Regent Retail Park, Salford
Located at the end of the M602 Motorway off Regent Road in Salford, this large retail park includes shops and stores including Sainsbury's, Mothercare, Staples, Dunnes, TK Maxx, Deichmann Shoes, Boots and the Carphone Warehouse, among others.

Robin Retail Park, Wigan
Robin Park is a sports, leisure and retail complex located on Robin Park Road, on the outskirts of Wigan WN5 and includes stores and businesses like Miller Brothers, Carphone Warehouse, Brian's Furnishing Stores, First Choice Holidays, Argos, Empire Cinema (11-screen multiplex), Robin Park Arena, ASDA, B&Q, Boots, Next and Pets at Home. Snipe Retail Park, Ashton
Located on Manchester Road, Ashton-under-Lyne OL7, this retail park includes large stores like Comet and B&Q as well as the Companion Care Veterinary Surgery, Rosebys, Currys, Carphone Warehouse, Topps Tiles, Halfords and dining outlets like McDonalds.

Stanley Green Retail Park, Cheadle Hulme
Located on Earl Road, off the A34 in Cheadle Hulme SK8, midway between Wilmsow and Handforth, this retail park includes stores like Comet, Halfords and TK Maxx, among others.

Times Retail Park, Heywood
Located in Dawson Street, central Heywood OL10, this retail park has only 2 main stores - Morrisons Supermarket and Dunnes Store.

Trafford Retail Park, Urmston
Located off Barton Road, the other side of the M60 Orbital Motorway from the prestigious Trafford Centre, Trafford Retail Park includes shops like Dunelm, Carpetright, Comet, Kutchenhaus, TK Maxx, and food outlets like McDonalds and PizzaHut.

West One Retail Park, Eccles
Located in Gildabrook Road, Eccles in Salford, close to the M602 Motorway link. Shops include the Next Clearance Shop, Mothercare, WH Smith, JJB Sports, HMV, McDonalds, Au Naturale Interior Shop and Clarks Footwear.

White City Retail Park, Old Trafford
Located on White City Way, Chester Road, near to Manchester United's Football Stadium, in Old Trafford, Manchester M16 0RP. Stores include DFS, Furniture Village, Bensons Beds, Halfords, Currys, Comet, Homebase, Harveys Furniture Store, PizzaHut and the Sofa Company.

Woodfield Retail Park, Bury
Located on Peel Way, Bury BL9 5BY, a large retail park dominated by Tesco Superstore, and also including shops by Currys, Boots the Chemist, and JD Sports.
