The Artist
Of herself and her work, Stockport resident Jackie Wagg says:
"My
energy and motivation comes from the ordinary streets and buildings
of my environment which has a particular interest and importance,
maybe partly because it seems to be disappearing even while
I am painting it in some cases."
Jackie graduated
in 1984 with a First Class Hons Degree in Fine Art. Subsequently,
she exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery London, Royal Academy,
the Royal Festival Hall, in Whitechapel, the Williamson Art Gallery
and Stockport Art Gallery.
The Victoria
Albert Museum National Art library purchased the artist's book
of etchings and linocuts for its collection in 1991. An exhibition
of the work was sponsored by English Heritage in 1992.
The artist
has exhibited widely in group exhibitions in the UK and USA.
She has been
featured in Cheshire Life Magazine.
Jackie won
a prize for her painting 'Stockport Viaduct' at the Williamson
Museum and Art Gallery Merseyside in 2006 and The Wirral Society
of Arts Presidents Prize for her painting 'Cerulean House'
in 2007.
A trained
teacher and musician, Jackie has combined a career teaching music
and painting.
