
The Artist
Liam Spencer
was born in Burnley in 1964, and graduated with a degree in Fine
Art from Manchester Polytechnic (now the Metropolitan University
of Manchester) in 1986. Since that time he has worked from studios
in Manchester and Salford.
His best known
paintings are of the urban landscapes of Manchester and Salford,
often painted in rich glowing colours. He has exhibited throughout
the UK and abroad, and his work is represented in many public
and private collections, including the Manchester
City Art Gallery and the Readers Digest Collection
in New York, as well as having been the subject of numerous press
and magazine articles including "Art Review", "Artists
& Illustrators", "Lancashire Life"
and "Manchester Life".
In 2000 he
was invited to stage the first solo exhibition at the newly opened
Lowry arts centre in Salford Quays.
He currently has two paintings on display at the recently reopened
Manchester City Art Gallery.
He has had
exhibitions in Manchester, London, Oxford, Guildford, Cheshire
and York.
Liam and his
work was featured in BBC television's "A Picture of Britain"
on Wednesday 8 June 2005.
