Metroshuttle
Free City Centre Buses in Manchester


Manchester Metroshuttle

A completely free
service launched in September 2002 as a major expansion to central
bus provision and aimed at improving public transport infrastructure
while reducing traffic in Manchester city centre. The two circular
routes take in all major rail stations, bus stops and Metrolink Tram
stops.

Routes
At present the routes are:

  • Metroshuttle
    1 (Orange): based at Piccadilly Rail Station, operates from Monday
    to Saturday from 7am about every 5 minutes, and on Sunday from 10am
    – about every 10 minutes. Metroshuttle 1 now runs until 9pm Mondays
    to Fridays. Saturday finishing time remains at 7pm, and Sunday finishing
    time remains at 6pm.
    Serves Piccadilly Station, Piccadilly Gardens, China Town, King
    Street, Albert Square/Town Hall, Deansgate, Kendals, Triangle, Arndale
    Centre, Marks & Spencer, Selfridges, Boots, Chorlton Street
    and Central Coach Station.

  • Metroshuttle
    2 (Green): based at Victoria Rail Station. Operates Monday to Saturday
    7am to 7pm – about every 10minutes, and on Sunday 10am to 6pm, about
    every 10 minutes.
    Serves Victoria Station, Printworks, MEN Arena, Deansgate, G-Mex,
    Universities, Oxford Road Station, Deansgate Station, Castlefield,
    Museum of Science & Technology, Deansgate, Great Northern Warehouse,
    Oxford Road Station, Palace Theatre, Marks & Spencer, Selfridges,
    Cathedral and the Arndale Centre.

  • Metroshuttle
    3 (Purple): based at Piccadilly Rail Station, operates Monday to
    Saturday 7am to 7pm – about every 10minutes. No service on Sunday.
    Serves Piccadilly Rail Station, Piccadilly/Chatham Street, Portland
    Street/Chorlton Street, Oxford Street, Peter Street, Quay Street/Opera
    House, Quay Street/Granada TV, New Quay Street, Salford Central
    Station, Gartside Street, Spinningfields, Peter Street, Mount Street,
    Albert Square, Town Hall, City Art Gallery, Princess Street and
    Whitworth Street.

The Providing
Partnership

The
buses are all brand new easy access, low floor, low emission and have
been provided by a partnership between Manchester City Council, Greater
Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE), National Car Parks
(NCP), Allied London Properties (Spinningfields), Manchester City
Centre Management Company and the First in Manchester Bus Company.
