Ulverston, Eskdale & Newby Bridge

The Cumbrian region known as South Lakeland lies immediately
south of the A590 trunk road which largely separates it from the Lake
District National Park proper, and consists mostly of the Cartmel and
Furness Peninsulas overlooking Morecambe Bay.

Ulverston has several places
to stay, including the Lonsdale House Hotel, a quality town centre 2
star rated, 22 bedroom hotel located in this traditional Lakeland market
town. All rooms en-suite with some four poster and Jacuzzi, feature
garden with high gothic wall, quiet cosy restaurant serving locally
produced food. There is also the 3 diamonds rated Farmers Arms Inn Ulverston,

many of the traditional features and combining them with modern day
facilities. Famed for its fine food for over 3 centuries and a friendly
atmosphere, with cosy en-suite bedrooms, many with original oak beams
and pleasant soft furnishings. Similarly, Netherwood Hotel in Grange-over-Sands,
though not quite as old, still offers a fine 19th century country residence
with superb oak panelling throughout. The present family owners have
transformed Netherwood into a luxury hotel and spa. Situated in a location
that is unrivalled – in a natural amphitheatre, with carefully tended
gardens within 17 acres of woodland – a peaceful antidote to modern
living
