David Chandler - Manchester Artist
The Artist

David Chandler is Head of the Media and Film
Department at Aquinas College in Stockport. He was educated
at Cambridge (English and the History of Art) and the Courtauld
Institute under Michael Kitson.

At Wimbledon School of Art in 1982 he was
taught by Prunella Clough, Chris LeBrun and Maggie Hambling.

Awarded the ‘Gertrude Hermes’ print prize
in1987. He based his early work in relief and intaglio printmaking
and has developed these approaches into his painting.

Of himself, David says:

“My recent artwork continues
my long held interest in the lost landscapes of the Roman
countryside. I work in acrylic, clay and bronze, in sequenced
themes. The genre is landscape poetry.”

The British Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum,
Cambridge, the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester and Churchill College
Cambridge have examples his work.

He has also produced a number of bronze art
medals and small sculptures. These are also in public and private
collections in the UK.
