Lorna Green

Lorna Green, sculptor, Manchester & Cheshire
The Artist

Lorna Green work is a Manchester trained,
Cheshire-based sculptor who works mainly in public art and environmental
projects, functional earthworks and sculptures, located at sites
in the UK and widely overseas. Lorna says:

“My sculpture is site specific
in that it relates to the sites, considering the history,
economy, landscape or mythology of the area. Materials utilised
are pertinent to the project – wood, stone, earth, planting,
bricks, steel, cement, bronze, water, glass, plastics and
light”.

Lorna qualified with a BA (Hons) in Fine
Art in 1982 at the (then) Manchester Polytechnic, (now Manchester
Metropolitan University) and in 1991 was awarded an M.Phil in
Fine Art by the University of Leeds.

She is a Fellow of the Royal British Society
of Sculptors (FRBS), and a member of the Manchester Academy
of Fine Art.

She has travelled and lectured extensively
throughout the UK and had many Solo Exhibitions, Commissions,
Residencies and Group Exhibitions locally, nationally and abroad,
including France, Germany, Canada, Korea, Netherlands, Israel,
China, New Zealand and Australia.

In 2000 as part of “Architecture
2000”, she received commendations by Leeds City Council
for “Meet, Sit and Talk, Conversation” and
“Roof Garden” . In 2004 she contributed work
to the much publicised ‘Cow Parade’ .

In 1997 she worked with the Biffa Waste company
offering ideas for landfill sites. She also writes for ‘ Artists
Magazine’ on international projects.
