Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system and philosophy of health care that separated
from traditional medical practice about a century ago. It places
emphasis on the muscular-skeletal system, hence the name ("osteo"
refers to bone and "path" refers to disease).
Osteopaths also believe strongly in the healing power of the body
and do their best to facilitate that strength. Osteopaths, chiropractors,
and physical therapists are the experts in manipulations (adjustments).During
this century, the disciplines of osteopathy and more conventional
medicine have been converging.
Chiropractics
Not dissimilar and closely related is chiropractic. This is a
a method of treatment that manipulates body structures, especially
the spine, to relieve low back pain, headache or high blood pressure
and for the purpose of alleviating neural dysfunction. This system
of diagnosis and treatment is based on the concept that the nervous
system coordinates all of the body's functions, and that disease
results from a lack of normal nerve function
