  • Yates's Wine Lodge
    50 Yorkshire Street, Oldham (Centre).

    A fine upmarket version of the old Yates's Wine Lodge with ornate plush interior fittings and furnishings and a warm welcome. Boddington's Bitter, Cain's Bitter and Murphy's Stout on offer. Good pub food and sandwiches on offer, with a speciality beef sandwich called "The Bosley", and Yates's famous own drink concoction "The Blob" - a mixture of fortified white wine, hot water, sugar and lemon - well worth trying. Open Mon-Fri 11.00am-11.00pm, Sat 11.00am-4.00pm and 7.00pm-11.00pm, Sun 12noon-3.00pm and 7.00pm-10.30pm.

  • Church Inn
    Church Lane, Uppermill, Saddleworth, Oldham.
    Tel: 01457-820902.
    Opening Mon-Sat 12noon - 11.00pm and Sunday 12noon - 10.30pm. Real Ales include Saddleworth Ales, Hop Smacker and Shaft Bender. A charmingly eccentric country pub notable for its Morris dancers, bell ringers and August Bank Holiday gurning festival. Good food available. Children welcome.

    Open all day including Sundays, a basic pub, centrally located near Tommyfield Market, with Sky Satellite TV available for the sporting fraternity. A selection of real ales on offer. Bar food served.

  • Abbey Inn
    77 West Street, Oldham.
    Tel: 0161-624 0888.
    A traditional old fashioned no-fuss, no-nonsense Oldham pub, with antiquated wooden furniture and floors, with discrete side booths. Good range of changing guest ales, cask ales, premium and foreign lagers. Hot food available from 12noon-7.00pm Mon-Sat. Average "Pub Grub" menu, but with chalkboard daily specials - cheap, wholesome and nourishing. Children's menu. The pub has a pool table, jukebox and arcade games.

  • The Tommyfield
    Henshaw Street, Oldham.

    A new-ish pub, conveniently situated next to the Tommyfield outdoor market (hence its name), serving J.W.Lees Ales brewed locally in Middleton. Bar snacks available, pub games and big screen satellite TV.

  • The Dog & Duck
    25 St Domingo Street, Oldham.
    Tel: 0161-624 3328.
    Traditional pub opposite the Civic Centre. Bank's Ales on tap. Bar food available from 12noon-2.00pm Monday-Saturday.

  • The Hogshead Alehouse
    Union Street, Oldham.
    A recently refurbished and much upgraded pub, which advertises itself as "the ultimate Cask Ale experience". Various ales on offer, including Boddington's, Chesters, Castle Eden, plus many other guest ales. Food available including snacks, burgers, pies, bangers and main meals. Function room for hire. Quiz nights on Mondays at 9.00pm.
  • Brewery Tavern
    George Street, Oldham.
    Vaux breweries beers, cask ales and chilled lagers on offer. Hot & Cold Food available. A large smart pub close to the main Spindles shopping centre and pleasant gardens in George's Square, and therefore popular with midday shoppers and workers at lunchtimes.

  • Cross Keys
    Running Hill Gate, Uppermill, Saddleworth, Oldham.

    Opening Mon-Sat 11.00am - 11.00pm and 12noon - 10.30pm on Sundays. Beer includes J. W. Lees Mild and Bitter Real Ales, Moonraker and other seasonal beers. Pleasant beer garden with excellent views in summertime. Photos of the local mountain rescue team adorn the walls. Folk music on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Food served every day at lunchtime and evening dinner time.


  • Rams Head
    Ripponden Road, Denshaw, Saddleworth, Oldham. Tel: 01457-874802.
    Timothy Taylors Landlord, Gold Best and Tetleys Bitter plus various guest ales available. Isolated pub whose windows look out over Yorkshire, offering excellent drinks and food, including an impressive wine list.

  • Royal Oak (aka. Th' Heights)
    Broad Lane, Heights, Denshaw Road, Delph, Oldham. Tel: 01457-874460.
    Moorhouses and Coachhouses Gunpowder Mild ales, as well as Boddingtons Cask Ale and guest ales available here. Multiple rooms with intimate corners and now fake modernism. Good food also available.

  • The Three Crowns
    1-3 Manchester Street, Oldham. Tel: 0161-628 9301.
    A Marston's pub located near the Magistrates Court, Spindles Shopping Centre and West Street bus stops. Traditional home cooked lunches served 6 days a week from 11.30am-2.00pm. Advanced bookings taken. Children's menu available.


  • Royal Oak

    A good centrally located pub with games and pool room and its magnificently exotic Horseshoe Bar. Robinson's beers, Old Tom, and Frederick's Ales. Open Mon-Sat 11.00am-11.00pm, Sun 12noon-3.00pm and 7.00pm-10.30pm.
