pubs, though there is a simple public bar. A wide selection
of pub food permanently on menu, with daily blackboard specials.

etc. plus Vegetarian specialities, desserts, Sunday Lunch
Roasts at about £4.00 basic, jugs of house wine. Children
welcome.

include Samuel Smiths Dark Mild. Real ale, good food and jazz
music make this a great pub in a listed building. Jazz is
on Wed-Sat and caters for traditional fans and modern jazz
fans.

offered include Holts Bitter and Mild as well as Boddingtons
Bitter. Standing on a retail park, this well maintained and
preserved old pub seems to belong to another age, complete
with real fires, real ale and home-made food. Great traditional
old pub atmosphere.

A canalside pub squashed between the Bridgewater Canal and
the A56. It serves large portions of high quality food and
beers.

Hatters Mild, Best Bitter, Old Stockport Bitter, Old Tom (winter);
Hartleys XB. A fairly down to earth pub in a high class area,
supposedly haunted by a former landlady, one Mary Holt, whose
presence is sensed by the smell of Lavender water.

till 10.30pm. J.W. Lees beers available here. Another converted
railway station property (this time the old Stationmaster's
House), still directly connected to Metrolink Station. Small
with just two bars, it is the favourite haunt of the local
Rugby Union Football Team. Lunchtime food available from Mon-Sat
and evening meals on Sundays. Live music every Saturday and
a DJ on Sunday evenings.

10.30pm. Beers on offer include Boddingtons, Old Speckled
Hen and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Owing to its immediate
proximity to Dunham Massey and the Cheshire countryside, this
is a popular pub with summer trippers and visitors, especially
since it offers virtually full restaurant facilities for families,
with good food at a reasonable price. There is also a good
selection of wines. A typical Cheshire country pub, white
walls, oak beams, wall-hung brasses and copper kettles.

Hatters Mild as well as several guest beers. A cleverly designed
recently-built attractive pub, pretending to be mid-Victorian,
it concentrates on good pub food, well kept beers and wines,
and an extensive selection of single malt whiskeys. Food available
between 12 noon and 8.00pm Summer drinking overlooking the
Bridgewater Canal can be most pleasant here.

10.30pm. Beers on offer include Theakstons, Courage Directors,
Ruddles County and other guest ales. This is as much a restaurant
as a pub, and with the excellent ales and food on offer it
can get very busy at weekends and holiday times - best to
book a table in advance.
