Ian Cooper
The Artist
Ian Cooper
was born in Manchester in 1947 and and left school at the age
of 14 though it was another year before he was able to get a
job.
Ian had
always loved art but it was a long wait, (until he was 33),
before he entered the Manchester Polytechnic (now the Metropolitan
University of Manchester) to do a Fine Arts Degree from 1982-5
.
After this,
he taught art part time at Salford and Manchester Colleges for
3 years.
He now runs
a small bricklaying business for 3 or 4 days a week, and spends
the rest of his time painting. Ian confesses to loving the days
when building work is rained off!
Ian has
held several exhibitions, from a one man show in West Didsbury
in 1986 and in the Holden Gallery at the Manchester Polytechnic
also in that year.
He was artist
in residence for 2 weeks at the former Fletcher Moss Art Gallery
in Didsbury.
Apart from
this his work has been shown in many mixed exhibitions at the
Castlefield Gallery and other minor events.
Ian presently
lives in Withington, Manchester 20, and can be contacted by:
